Racing Around ChattanoogaWhat could be better than seeing the sights around Chattanooga on a pleasant March weekend? Seeing it all on foot, of course! The Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon is set to return for another great year, with a full weekend of races, expos, music, and fabulous food for all to enjoy. There's a race for every runner, from the challenge of a full marathon to the joy of a fun run designed especially for local kids. The race weekend also features plenty of events that don't require running shoes, including a busy schedule of live music. Our REALTORS® are ready for the races, and we've got all the details.

Dates: March 6 – 8, 2020

Location: Marathon Starting Line at 2nd and Broad Streets on the Riverfront

  • Enjoy the Biggest Annual Race Weekend in Chattanooga
Whether you're shopping for Chattanooga homes for sale or training for a marathon, this is the perfect city to experience on foot. The Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon is organized by people who love Chattanooga and has grown into one of the city's most popular events. Founded in 2016, the event was envisioned as a way to engage residents, attract visitors, and benefit the community. It's been a great success so far, with new events and attractions added to race weekend every year. Register to race, or show your support as a spectator – either way you're in for a treat.

  • See the Sights from a New Perspective
The course for the Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon is designed to take you through some of the most scenic spots in the city. Longer races kick off on Broad Street between 2nd and 3rd Street, with a course winding through the Riverfront, Bluff View, City Center, Westside, and Southside Historic districts. Spectators love watching around the finish line, but there are plenty of other great vantage points along the Tennessee River and beyond.

  • A Race for Every Experience Level
Training for a marathon is a big deal, and there's nothing like the reward of crossing the finish line after a long run. But if you're not looking to complete a marathon, no problem! The weekend also features a team relay marathon, half-marathon, 5k run, and a fun run designed just for kids. No matter which race you choose, you'll have plenty of support from the crowd.

  • A Full Weekend of Fun in Chattanooga
It wouldn't be a big Chattanooga event without great music and even better food, would it? The Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon delivers on both fronts, with live music throughout the weekend and ample opportunities to enjoy food from the city's best restaurants. The weekend also includes a series of neighborhood parties, where you can watch the races surrounded by food, live music, and plenty of new friends.

  • Get Involved with the Chattanooga Erlanger Marathon This Year
There are so many ways to get involved, whether you're strapping on your running shoes or cheering from the crowd. Runners should plan to register online in advance, while spectators need to find the perfect spot to watch the action on race days close to all of the music, food, and fun.

If you love to experience the outdoors while you enjoy your daily run, then the scenic streets of Chattanooga are waiting for you. Contact us to buy and sell homes throughout the area.

Buying a Home During Retirement

You've put in years of hard work, and now it's time to relax and make the most of your retirement years. Sometimes that means purchasing a new home. Whether you want to downsize or relocate to a warmer climate, there are many things retirees need to consider when purchasing a home in retirement. The following are seven tips our REALTORS® recommend you use as a guideline before making your decision.

  1. Consider Your Costs
Property taxes, sales taxes, utility bills, HOA dues, maintenance, and general upkeep can amount to hundreds, if not thousands of dollars per month. Take these expenses into account and discuss them with your accountant when calculating how much home you can afford.
  2. Look Closely at the Layout
Most retirees prefer a single-story house or condo when they retire. These are easier to clean and maintain. When choosing a home, you will want to choose one that fits the lifestyle you anticipate and isn't too large or too small for your needs.

Veteran Loan 2020

Our REALTORS® have worked with many clients who make use of VA loans to buy their first home. The VA home loan, available to most service members, reservists, and National Guard members, can be genuinely life-changing.

In 2020, benefits associated with the loan will get even better.

If you are looking at Chattanooga homes for sale – or even just considering whether it's time to buy – it's important to know about these pending changes. Many of them can make it easier to get the home you want.

Two crucial adjustments are coming as of January 1, 2020.

VA Loan Limits Will Be Eliminated – For Good

As part of the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019, signed into law in June, VA loan limits will be removed for all qualified loan applications in 2020 and beyond.

Loan limits specify the highest sum the Department of Veterans Affairs can guarantee with zero down payment. Naturally, the lack of down payment is one of the most attractive aspects of the VA home loan. It can save loan recipients thousands of dollars.
