Spring in Chattanooga

Getting cabin fever after a long winter? Chattanooga offers a variety of exciting opportunities to get out and about during springtime. Our real estate agents have compiled a checklist of lively activities to put on your spring calendar.

  1. Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center - 400 Garden Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37419
    Watching Mother Nature rise from her winter slumber is a sight that never grows old. Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center is a public park designed to conserve and enhance the natural beauty near Chattanooga homes for sale. The 317-acre property features more than 12 miles of dog-friendly walking trails along Lookout Creek and up Lookout Mountain. With five distinct ecosystems encompassed in the park, you're likely to spot some birds and animals that live on the grounds. Admission is by donation, with $10 for adults and $7 for children requested. The Welcome Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., but members have dawn-till-dusk access.
  2. Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum - 4119 Cromwell Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421
    Chattanooga's historical importance as a railroad hub inspired the classic song, "Chattanooga Choo Choo." Step back in time to the days of train travel at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. TVRM preserves and promotes the legacy of railways by offering a variety of train trips, including seasonal- and holiday-themed excursions. The most popular trip is the 55-minute Missionary Ridge Local, a six-mile guided tour that includes a crossing of the Chickamauga Creek bridge. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for kids ages 2-12. 

  3. Creative Discovery Museum - 321 Chestnut St., Chattanooga, TN 37402
    Do your kids get restless during a visit to a traditional museum? Creative Discovery Museum opens up their world with a wide range of interactive exhibits and programs that make learning a treat. Kids can get a breathtaking view of Chattanooga from the observation deck, explore their creativity in the Visual Arts Gallery, and get a basic understanding of machines at the Rooftop Fun Factory. Admission is $15.95 or free with an annual membership starting at $85. CDM hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily.

  4. Southern Belle Riverboat - 151 Riverfront Parkway, Chattanooga, TN 37402
    Get a stunning new view of Chattanooga as you cruise down the Tennessee River on the Southern Belle Riverboat. From its beginning as a part-time attraction carrying 20-30,000 passengers per year, the riverboat has grown to a year-round operation with more than 100,000 annual visitors. Choose from lunch or dinner cruises, as well as several sightseeing and seasonal excursions. Landlubbers can view the riverboats and other sights around Chattanooga while dining at the 3rd Deck Burger Bar. 

  5. Chattanooga Riverwalk - 201 Riverfront Parkway, Chattanooga, TN 37402
    With its diverse array of activities and amenities, no two visits to the Chattanooga Riverwalk are ever the same. Also referred to as the Tennessee Riverpark, the Riverwalk stretches 16 miles along the southern bank of the Tennessee River. The paved path is fully lighted and marked each half-mile, with 24-hour security and seven full-service restrooms along the way. Picnic tables, shelters, playgrounds, and fishing piers are available, and the route is accented with sculptures and other artwork. Park hours are dusk to dawn, and the trail is open to walkers, bike riders, and skaters. 

  6. Coolidge Park Antique Carousel - 150 River St., Chattanooga, TN 37405
    Take a step into history or in this case a ride, when you visit the Coolidge Park Antique CarouselBuilt right here in Chattanooga in 1894, this carousel has been delighting residents ever since! Choose between 52 different hand-carved animals for your ride. Plus, your carousel ride is only $1 per ride.
